Kautz most recently served as President of Strategy & Operations for HYBE Label Service, HYBE's first global department, where he created unified distribution, marketing, and operational infrastructure across its business units in North America, Latin America, Japan, Korea, and India.

His career began at Nashville's Emerald Sound Studios in 1989, where he worked his way up from college intern to Chief Operating Officer. In 2005, Scott Borchetta brought him on as the first hire at Big Machine. He served as General Manager, Chief Operating Officer, and President of Label Operations supporting the careers of such artists as Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line and Carly Pearce.
