Atwood began her career with Island Records and PolyGram Distribution, working with artists including U2, The Cranberries and Tonic.

She joined RCA Label Group in 1999 and spent the next 26 years rising from coordinator to Senior Vice President across RCA Label Group, Sony Music Nashville and Sony Music Entertainment. During that time, she worked with artists including Luke Combs, Kenny Chesney, Kane Brown, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Megan Moroney. She also helped build partnerships with Spotify, Apple, Amazon, Walmart and Target and contributed to the success of numerous Billboard 200 No. 1 albums.

Throughout her career, Atwood has been recognized with several industry honors, including MusicRow 's Rising Women on the Row (2014), the Nashville Business Journal 's Women in Music City (2017), Variety 's Hitmakers list (2021), and Billboard 's Women in Music list (2023 and 2024).
