"You’re one of the voices that led me to Nashville. And one of the most distinctive singer songwriters of the last few decades. A real country man. 'Count the memories.' RIP [John Anderson]" – Alan Jackson
"Heartbroken is an understatement. John’s music came to prominence in the ’80s when I was in college, and one of my dear friends from Florida sang his songs all the time. John’s voice became part of the soundtrack of those years, and I felt like I had grown up with him. I had the privilege of a long conversation with him just this past Sunday night, and I’m so grateful for that time. My heart is with his family tonight.” – Sarah Trahern , Country Music Association CEO
"Pretty devastated to hear [John Anderson] passed away today. This guy was one of my all time favorites. One of the nicest people I have ever met and one of the coolest and most stylistic singers that has ever graced a microphone. I grew up listening to my dad’s vinyl John Anderson albums and learning to play guitar to them. I was fortunate enough to meet and even get to perform with him a few times over the years and I will forever be grateful. Thanks for the songs that were such a big part of my early years and for the influence you and they had on me and my music. Rest easy bud. 🙏🏼" – Jason Aldean
"I was talking with John Sunday night at the HOF ceremony. He was in such good spirits. We talked, we laughed, we sang his songs that I loved so much together, just goofing off. I am completely heartbroken by his passing. There will never be a stylist in music, any music, that was so defining as his. It’s just devastating. All of our love goes out to his family and the country music community. He was and is one of the defining voices in country music. So great. I am completely shook." – Tim McGraw
"There is too much for me to say about [John Anderson] in just a statement. I am sick and I am stunned. But I am a very lucky man. I got the opportunity to find out that my hero wasn’t just the guy I hoped he’d be. He was so much more than that. John was my friend. I got to see him last Sunday and I don’t even know why but I told him I loved him. That is what fills my heart in this moment. My love and prayers go out to John’s family. This one really hurts." – Blake Shelton
“John Anderson was a one-of-a-kind song stylist who proved that fresh innovations were best born from time-honored traditions. Whether he borrowed inspiration from Lefty Frizzell’s vocal bends or the Florida swamp land, he brought dynamic distinction and creative soul to a world that needed to hear his voice. In 1981, John famously gave life to Billy Joe Shaver’s lyric, ‘I’m just an old chunk of coal, but I’ll be a diamond someday.’ He was already a diamond then, and a diamond he always will be.” – Kyle Young , CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum
"I was so sad to hear that my good friend [John Anderson] has passed away. I just saw him on Sunday at the Hall of Fame Induction. I hugged him and told him that I loved him, and he told me that he loved me too. I just can’t believe he’s gone from this life, but I know where he is, he’s with Jesus!! John was one of the greatest singers and he had the most unique voice in Country Music. I will miss his big smile and big hug!!" – Ricky Skaggs
"I was so sad to hear of the sudden passing of John Anderson after just seeing him at the Hall of Fame induction on Sunday. So thankful I got to talk with him and give him a hug one last time. He was a great singer and I loved him." – Connie Smith
"Stunned and so saddened by this news . Such a great man and true legend. Elizabeth and I were having our morning coffee as she read the news and asked if I knew him. I said yes and what a kind … generous … sweet spirit he had….. and so very talented. We have since had Swinging and Seminole Wind on repeat all morning. Rest in Peace [John Anderson]. Your music will live on forevermore. 🎶 🎵 🎶" – Billy Ray Cyrus
"John Anderson was a hunting buddy, fishing buddy, mentor, friend, brother, and fellow Bass Pro Man. Truly a GREAT guy, and a real outlaw. The first picture here on the plane we had just left a great fishing trip in Islamorada, and John was telling me stories about Mack Vickery and Merle Kilgore. It was awesome. He was The realest of the real. Rest easy my friend, and thank you for all the Happy Times and days in the field. Absolutely NOBODY, will ever fill John’s shoes. Me, Kelly, JJ, Georgia and the rest of our family love you dearly, John. Keep on Swingin, and i’m Glad that Jesus gets to welcome The Black Sheep of The Family. ❤️🙌 "- Chris Janson

An unmistakable, fun loving artist from the deep south who loved to sing and perform and was embraced by the country music community as one of the best who ever played the Opry. We will miss him, but his songs will live on forever In our hearts. RIP John Anderson” – Lee Greenwood

In his case, it's no cliche to say that he was truly one of a kind. I'm so proud to have worked with him on the road and become friends. His passing leaves a gaping hole in originality. May God bless his family in this hour of sadness. We'll all miss you, brother.” – T. Graham Brown
